Planning Applications Approved for the development and restoration of Firbeck Hall

The Friends group is pleased to announce that the planning applications submitted to RMBC were approved at the Planning Board Meeting on Thursday 10th May 2018.  The approvals must now be ratified by the Secretary of State to enable the scheme to finally progress.

This is the most significant development in the approximate 28 years that have passed since the Rehabilitation Centre closed and the building and grounds ceased to be occupied.

The Friends group has adopted a supportive stance in encouraging the owners and local authority to work together to develop a viable future for the site which would see Firbeck Hall restored and in regular use and we are delighted that this milestone has now been reached after almost 10 years of campaigning and effort.

We now look forward to seeing the plans come to life with the necessary work on site to secure the future of the Hall and it's surroundings.

Friends of Firbeck Hall

FoFH is a voluntary group dedicated to encouraging the sympathetic restoration of this beautiful 16th Century building, located in the village of Firbeck in South Yorkshire.

We are delighted that we now have over 500 members who have pledged support for our organisation and our membership and newsletter circulation continues to grow steadily.

Firbeck Hall has a tremendous history of which only a tiny proportion is detailed on this site. The group is steadily acquiring more knowledge about the history of the people who lived at the Hall and the local community which we frequently publish.

The Friends group produces a newsletter 3 times a year detailing progress with the current development initiative and publishing articles of historical and social interest.

If you would like to join the friends group, have information you would like to to share with us about our campaign or the history of the Hall we would be very pleased to hear from you - email us here: friends@firbeckhall.net
